KINDERDIJK CYCLING TRIP

Today is a public holiday in the Netherlands, and the weather is excellent (26°C). So, I decided to visit Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk is a village in the Netherlands' South Holland province, known for its iconic 18th-century windmills. Nineteen beautiful windmills, built around 1740, stand there as part of a larger water management system to prevent floods. Today, they symbolise Dutch water management, and in 1997 they were declared to be UNESCO World Heritage. Kinderdijk is only 15km away from Rotterdam, and you can access it by public transport.

I heard about Kinderdijk before but never visited. You know they say "If it is close by, you think that you would always have a chance to visit it whenever you want. So, better explore further away destinations". After so many years, today I finally decided to explore what is close by 😀 I didn't use public transport but cycled instead! Since the quarantine, I am cycling more than I did in the past couple of years! Damn, it feels good! 😀

The cycling route to Kinderdijk is very relaxed and quite scenic. It would take you around 1 hour (one way) if you don't rush and enjoy the views. It is rare to have warm weather in the Netherlands, so you need to take advantage of it!

That's all for now. Don't forget to enjoy the day! ☀
